DECEMBER 2010 WAS THE SNOWIEST DECEMBER EVER AT THE JACKSON WEATHER
OFFICE...WITH A TOTAL OF 18.5 INCHES. THIS BESTED LAST DECEMBER/S
BENCHMARK BY ALMOST AN INCH. DECEMBER 2010 WAS ON TRACK TO BE THE
COLDEST DECEMBER ON RECORD...BUT A WARM UP ON THE LAST TWO DAYS
KNOCKED LAST MONTH OUT OF THE TOP SPOT. JACKSON HAD A MEAN
TEMPERATURE OF 28.2 DEGREES...SOME 10 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. LAST
MONTH ENDED UP TIED FOR THE 2ND COLDEST DECEMBER ON RECORD. AT THE
LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR LAST MONTH WAS
28.7 DEGREES...NEARLY 10 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. DECEMBER 2010 WILL GO
DOWN AS THE 4TH COLDEST DECEMBER OF ALL TIME AT LONDON. ON THE
PRECIPITATION SIDE OF THE FENCE...BOTH JACKSON AND LONDON FINISHED
DRIER THAN NORMAL. JACKSON TOTALED 2.97 INCHES...WHICH IS JUST OVER
AN INCH AND A QUARTER BELOW NORMAL. LONDON ENDED UP WITH 2.85
INCHES...NEARLY AN INCH AND A HALF DRIER THAN NORMAL. IT WAS THE
TENTH DRIEST DECEMBER ON RECORD AT JACKSON...AND THE 15TH DRIEST AT
LONDON.

2010 ALSO CAME TO A CLOSE WITH BOTH JACKSON AND LONDON HAVING ANNUAL
FIGURES A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT. THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE HAD A
MEAN ANNUAL TEMPERATURE OF 56.1 DEGREES...WHICH IS 0.2 DEGREES ABOVE
THE NORMAL OF 55.9 DEGREES. THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT ENDED 2010
WITH A MEAN TEMPERATURE OF 55.4 DEGREES...WHICH IS 0.6 DEGREES BELOW
THE NORMAL OF 56.0 DEGREES. EVEN THOUGH BOTH LOCATIONS ENDED LAST
YEAR DRIER THAN NORMAL...THERE WAS A VAST DIFFERENCE IN HOW FAR
BELOW NORMAL EACH LOCATION WAS. LONDON TOTALED 46.94 INCHES OF
PRECIPITATION LAST YEAR...WHICH IS 0.47 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF
47.41 INCHES. AT JACKSON...THE 2010 TOTAL WAS 45.26 INCHES. THIS IS
4.12 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL ANNUAL TOTAL OF 49.38 INCHES.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE NEAR JACKSON FINISHED DECEMBER
2010 WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 28.2 DEGREES...WHICH IS 10.1
DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 38.3 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH WAS
33.6 DEGREES...AND THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW WAS 22.7 DEGREES. DECEMBER

DEGREES...WHICH OCCURRED ON THE 31ST. NOT SURPRISINGLY...NO HIGH
TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET OR TIED AT JACKSON LAST MONTH. THE
LOWEST TEMPERATURE FROM DECEMBER WAS 5 DEGREES ON THE 15TH. A LOW
TEMPERATURE RECORD WAS SET ON THE 14TH WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DIPPED
TO 8 DEGREES. NUMEROUS MINIMUM HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET OR
TIED LAST MONTH AS WELL. NEW RECORDS WERE ESTABLISHED ON THE
6TH...7TH...13TH...14TH AND 27TH...WHILE THE RECORD ON THE 19TH WAS
TIED. ALSO OF NOTE...JACKSON SAW 17 DAYS LAST MONTH WITH A HIGH
TEMPERATURE OF 32 DEGREES OR BELOW...WHICH IS THE MOST EVER RECORDED
IN DECEMBER.
