A strong and dynamic storm system races across the Bluegrass State Thursday February 24th and Friday February 25th, dumping 1 1/2 to 3 inches of rain across most of east Kentucky. The rainfall caused some minor flooding in a few spots and brought modest rises on area rivers, but no major flooding was reported to the National Weather Service Office in Jackson, KY.

In addition to the heavy rainfall, a strong line of thunderstorms passed across the region late Thursday night downing trees in a few locations. Also, strong post-frontal winds produced 40 to 50 mph wind gusts in many locations with a peak wind speed of 58 mph noted just south of Morehead.
