THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE AND THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT ENDED UP
WARMER THAN NORMAL. JACKSON SAW A MEAN SUMMER TEMPERATURE OF 75.1
DEGREES...WHICH IS 1.1 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 74.0 DEGREES.
LONDON FINISHED JUNE...JULY AND AUGUST WITH A MEAN TEMPERATURE OF
75.4 DEGREES...0.6 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 74.8 DEGREES. ALSO OF
NOTE...JACKSON SAW SUMMER 2011 FINISH AS THE 10TH WARMEST...AND
LONDON/S MEAN TEMPERATURE ENDED UP BEING THE 9TH WARMEST. OF FURTHER
INTEREST...JACKSON HAD A HIGH SUMMER TEMPERATURE OF 92 DEGREES AND A
LOW OF 55 DEGREES. LONDON RECORDED A MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 94
DEGREES AND HAD A SUMMERTIME LOW OF 53 DEGREES. THE JACKSON WEATHER
OFFICE AND LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT ENDED THE SUMMER WETTER THAN
NORMAL. JACKSON TOTALED 14.58 INCHES...1.54 INCHES ABOVE THE NORMAL
OF 13.04 INCHES. FURTHERMORE...JACKSON/S TOTAL WAS THE 10TH WETTEST.
LONDON MEASURED 13.51 INCHES...WHICH IS 1.36 INCHES ABOVE THE SUMMER
NORMAL OF 12.15 INCHES.

AUGUST 2011 DRIER THAN NORMAL FOR JACKSON AND LONDON. IN FACT...BOTH
LOCATIONS MEASURED THE SAME AMOUNT...3.07 INCHES. THIS TOTAL WAS A
LITTLE OVER A HALF AN INCH DRIER AT JACKSON AND LONDON. ON THE
TEMPERATURE SIDE OF THE FENCE...JACKSON ENDED UP WARMER WHILE LONDON
WAS A TAD COOLER. JACKSON FINISHED LAST MONTH NEARLY A DEGREE ABOVE
NORMAL...WHILE LONDON WAS JUST A TENTH OF A DEGREE BELOW NORMAL.
ALSO OF NOTE...LONDON ESTABLISHED A NEW MONTHLY MAXIMUM LOW
TEMPERATURE RECORD LAST MONTH.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE NEAR JACKSON FINISHED AUGUST
2011 WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 74.7 DEGREES...WHICH IS 0.9
DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 73.8 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH WAS
84.2 DEGREES...AND THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW WAS 65.3 DEGREES. THE
HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR AUGUST 2011 WAS 89 DEGREES...WHICH OCCURRED
ON THE 8TH AND 31ST. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE FROM LAST MONTH WAS 58
DEGREES AND HAPPENED ON THE 23RD AND 29TH. NO HIGH OR LOW
TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET AT JACKSON LAST MONTH. ALTHOUGH A
MAXIMUM LOW TEMPERATURE RECORD WAS TIED ON THE 4TH WITH A READING OF
73 DEGREES. ALSO...AUGUST 2011 WAS THE SEVENTH MONTH IN A ROW WITH
ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES.

THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE RECEIVED 3.07 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION IN
AUGUST 2011...WHICH IS 0.62 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 3.69 INCHES.
THERE WERE EIGHT DAYS WHEN A HUNDREDTH OF AN INCH OR MORE OF
PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED...AND SEVEN DAYS WHEN A TENTH OF AN INCH
OR MORE FELL. THERE WERE TWO DAYS WHEN AT LEAST A HALF AN INCH OF
RAIN WAS RECEIVED...AND NO DAYS WITH MORE THAN ONE INCH. THE DAY
OF THE 13TH NETTED 0.81 INCHES OF RAIN WHICH WAS THE GREATEST DAILY
AMOUNT AND THE GREATEST AMOUNT RECEIVED IN A 24 HOUR PERIOD. THERE

THUNDER WAS HEARD ON EIGHT DAYS LAST MONTH AT THE JACKSON WEATHER
OFFICE...WHICH IS ABOVE THE AVERAGE OF 7.4 DAYS FOR AUGUST. THERE
WERE 18 DAYS WITH FOG...SEVEN OF WHICH FEATURED DENSE FOG. AUGUST
NORMALLY AVERAGES 8.0 DAYS OF DENSE FOG. THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR
AUGUST WAS 1.5 MPH...AND THE HIGHEST WIND GUST OF 35 MPH WAS

DEGREES...AND ON THE 7TH WITH 73 DEGREES. 71 DEGREES ON THE 25TH
TIED THE MAX LOW RECORD FOR THAT DAY. THE 75 DEGREE LOW TEMPERATURE
ON THE 6TH ALSO SET A NEW MONTH MAXIMUM LOW TEMPERATURE RECORD. THE
PREVIOUS RECORD OF 74 DEGREES WAS HIT FIVE TIMES...INCLUDING AUGUST
4TH OF THIS YEAR.

THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT RECORDED 3.07 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION IN
