EVEN THOUGH LAST MONTH STARTED OFF WITH A COUPLE OF DAYS WITH RECORD
BREAKING WARM TEMPERATURES...A FEW COOL SNAPS DURING SEPTEMBER MADE
THE MONTH FINISH BELOW NORMAL FOR JACKSON AND LONDON. THE JACKSON
WEATHER OFFICE ENDED UP TWO DEGREES BELOW NORMAL...AND THE LONDON
CORBIN AIRPORT FINISHED UP NEARLY TWO AND A HALF DEGREES COOLER. IN
FACT...IT WAS THE FIFTH COOLEST SEPTEMBER AT JACKSON...WHICH IS
SURPRISING SINCE A NEW MONTHLY MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORD WAS SET AT
THE WEATHER OFFICE LAST MONTH. THINGS WERE DIFFERENT ON THE
PRECIPITATION SIDE OF THE FENCE. JACKSON ENDED UP AROUND A QUARTER
OF AN INCH DRIER...WHILE LONDON FINISHED SEPTEMBER OVER AN INCH AND
A HALF WETTER.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE NEAR JACKSON FINISHED SEPTEMBER
2011 WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 66.1 DEGREES...WHICH IS 2.0
DEGREES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 68.1 DEGREES. THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH WAS
74.7 DEGREES...AND THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW WAS 57.5 DEGREES. THE
HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR SEPTEMBER 2011 WAS 96 DEGREES...WHICH
OCCURRED ON 3RD...AND IN ADDITION TO SETTING THE DAILY MAXIMUM
TEMPERATURE RECORD...ALSO ESTABLISHED A NEW SEPTEMBER MAXIMUM
RECORD. THE PREVIOUS MONTHLY MAXIMUM RECORD WAS 95 DEGREES...FIRST
SET IN 1991...AND TIED TWICE IN 1998 AND AGAIN IN 2007. ADDITIONAL
DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET ON THE 1ST WITH 93
DEGREES...AND ON THE 2ND WITH 94 DEGREES. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE
FROM LAST MONTH WAS 45 DEGREES AND HAPPENED ON THE 30TH...AND IN
FACT OCCURRED RIGHT BEFORE MIDNIGHT. NO LOW TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE
SET OR TIED AT JACKSON LAST MONTH. MAXIMUM LOW TEMPERATURE RECORDS
WERE SET ON THE 2ND AND 3RD WITH READINGS OF 71 AND 72 DEGREES
RESPECTIVELY...AND TIED ON THE 1ST WITH A READING OF 69 DEGREES.
THREE MINIMUM HIGH TEMPERATURES WERE SET LAST MONTH...61 DEGREES ON
THE 6TH...63 DEGREES ON THE 7TH...AND 59 DEGREES ON THE 16TH.
SEPTEMBER 2011 BROKE A STRING OF SEVEN MONTHS IN A ROW WITH ABOVE
NORMAL TEMPERATURES.

THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE RECEIVED 3.20 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION IN
SEPTEMBER 2011...WHICH IS 0.26 INCHES BELOW THE NORMAL OF 3.46
INCHES. THERE WERE TEN DAYS WHEN A HUNDREDTH OF AN INCH OR MORE OF
PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED...AND EIGHT DAYS WHEN A TENTH OF AN INCH
OR MORE FELL. THERE WERE TWO DAYS WHEN AT LEAST A HALF AN INCH OF
RAIN WAS RECEIVED...AND NO DAYS WITH MORE THAN ONE INCH. THE DAY OF

AMOUNT...AND ESTABLISHED A NEW DAILY PRECIPITATION RECORD FOR THAT

PRECIPITATION RECORD LAST MONTH...0.55 INCHES ON THE 6TH. FOR THE
YEAR...THE JACKSON PRECIPITATION TOTAL IS 46.10 INCHES...WHICH IS
