Higher Elevation Snow from Wednesday from Satellite

Most Eastern Kentucky locations experienced some snow in the air on Wednesday. No more than a dusting was reported across the lower elevations. However, across the higher elevations near the Virginia and West Virginia border and in adjacent portions of these states, generally at 2000 feet elevation and above, some light to moderate accumulations occurred. 1.5 inches of snow was reported 4 miles east of Kimper in Eastern Pike County late on Wednesday afternoon on a ridgetop. Kingdom Come State Park along the Letcher and Harlan County lines picked up 1.5 inches as well. Some locally higher amounts likely fell across porions of Harlan, Letcher, and Pike counties. In nearby southwest Virginia, near Nora in Dickenson County, 4.6 inches of snow was reported, while 3 inches was reported in portions of Wise County Virginia. Snow cover from this snowfall was evident on visible satellite imagery this morning as can be see in the image below.
