2011: One of the Wettest Years on Record across East Kentucky

With all the news about 2011 being the wettest year on record in Paducah, Louisville, Cincinnati, and Lexington, you may be wondering how this year ranks for stations across eastern Kentucky. 

Below you will find the wettest years on record for several long standing climate stations in the NWS Jackson forecast area.  We've included all the stations where 2011 (through December 28th) is one of the top 5 wettest years on record.  Of special note is the Baxter station near Harlan, where 2011 is now the wettest year on record, with records there dating back to 1948. The Cooperative Weather Station at Skyline 1SE, which opened in 1976, also had it wettest year in 2011.
