Cold Front Brings Heavy Rain on Thursday 3/8/2012

A cold front brought heavy rain to much of Eastern Kentucky and sections of the Commonwealth on Thursday. The rain tapered off during Thursday evening. However, some training of showers occured over southern sections closer to the Virginia and Tennessee, where even an few isolated thunderstorms occurred. Rainfall totals were generally less than an inch north of a line from McKee to Jackson to Pikeville to Elkhorn City. The heaviest rain in Eastern Kentucky fell in the Cumberland River basin or generally in locations nearer to the Tennessee and Virginia borders.
