MARCH 2012 ESTABLISHED NEW MONTHLY TEMPERATURE RECORDS FOR JACKSON
AND LONDON. THE JACKSON WEATHER OFFICE ENDED LAST MONTH NEARLY 12
DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL...WHILE THE LONDON CORBIN AIRPORT FINISHED
MARCH ALMOST 10 DEGREES WARMER. IN FACT...JACKSON WAS FIVE DEGREES
WARMER THAN THE PREVIOUS WARMEST MARCH...AND LONDON WAS OVER TWO
DEGREE HIGHER THAN THE OLD RECORD. ON THE PRECIPITATION SIDE OF THE
FENCE...BOTH LOCATIONS WERE CLOSE TO NORMAL OR NORMAL. JACKSON WAS
JUST FIVE HUNDREDTHS OF INCH DRIER...WHILE LONDON WAS EXACTLY NORMAL.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE NEAR JACKSON FINISHED MARCH 2012
WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 59.2 DEGREES...WHICH IS 11.8 DEGREES
ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 47.4 DEGREES. IN FACT...LAST MONTH/S AVERAGE WAS
WARMER THAN THE NORMAL APRIL AVERAGE OF 57.4 DEGREES. MARCH 2012 WAS
EASILY THE WARMEST MARCH ON RECORD...BESTING THE OLD BENCHMARK OF
54.2 DEGREES FROM 2007. THIS WAS ALSO THE FIFTH MONTH IN A ROW OF
MONTHS FINISHING IN THE TOP TEN WARMEST CATEGORY...WITH FEBRUARY
2012 FINISHING AS THE NINTH WARMEST FEBRUARY...JANUARY 2012 BEING
THE EIGHTH WARMEST JANUARY...DECEMBER 2011 ENDING UP THE FIFTH
WARMEST DECEMBER...AND NOVEMBER 2011 BEING THE 6TH WARMEST NOVEMBER.
THE AVERAGE DAILY HIGH WAS 70.3 DEGREES...AND THE AVERAGE DAILY LOW
WAS 48.2 DEGREES. NOTE THAT THE AVERAGE LOW IS HIGHER THAN THE
NORMAL AVERAGE FOR MARCH. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR MARCH 2012 WAS
86 DEGREES...WHICH OCCURRED ON THE 20TH AND SET A NEW DAILY
TEMPERATURE RECORD. ADDITIONAL MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE RECORDS OCCURRED
ON THE 19TH WITH 83 DEGREES...AND THE 21ST AND 22ND WITH 84 DEGREES
EACH DAY. THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE FROM LAST MONTH WAS 26 DEGREES AND
HAPPENED ON THE 5TH AND 6TH. NO LOW TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE SET
LAST MONTH. EIGHT CONSECUTIVE DAILY MAXIMUM LOW TEMPERATURE RECORDS
WERE SET FROM THE 16TH THROUGH THE 23RD WITH LOWS RANGING FROM THE
MIDDLE 50S TO THE MIDDLE 60S. STRANGELY...ONE DAILY MINIMUM
TEMPERATURE RECORD WAS SET IN MARCH...WITH 34 DEGREES ON THE 5TH.
