Number of Days With Highs of 90 or Above

Although tempeatures during June and July have averaged above normal and both locations are above their normal number of days with high tempeatures of 90 degress or above, both Jackson and London are not on a pace to set a record this year. This is despite the warmest high temperature during the period of record at Jackson and London being recorded during June. Highs could reach 90 degrees on Thursday and add to the total for 2012. After that, it should be at least a week before both locations would have a chance to reach 90 degrees during the latter half of the month. As the month wears on, the opportunity to reach 90 degrees or higher decreases as average temperarues decrease with the decreasing sun angles. With this in mind, our chances of reaching the record appear small at this time. Also of note, Jackson has not recorded a day with high temperatures of 90 or above later than September and London has recorded readings of 90 degrees or higher during 1 October. The graphs below show the number of days per year during the period of record where max temperatures reached or exceeded 90 degrees at each location.
