How Does the Cold of January 22 Compare

The minimum temperatures reported across eastern Kentucky the morning of January 22, while the coldest of the year, were not unusual for mid winter. Looking back in the climate records we see that most winters have had even colder temperatures than those that occurred on the morning of January 22, 2013.
