A line of strong showers and thunderstorms moved across eastern Kentucky during the late afternoon and early evening hours of April 11, 2013. A strong gust front developed just ahead of the main line of precipitation causing extensive wind damage to some communities located between Camargo and Jeffersonville in Mountgomery County, KY. The most significant damage occurred along Ficklin Road and Camargo Levee Road, with other minor damage located in spots within the general area.

A STORM DAMAGE SURVEY TEAM FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE
IN JACKSON KY HAS CONFIRMED THAT DAMAGE THAT HAD OCCURRED ON FICKLIN
ROAD BETWEEN CAMARGO AND JEFFERSONVILLE BETWEEN 655 AND 705 PM EDT
ON THURSDAY APRIL 11TH...WAS CAUSED FROM STRAIGHT LINE WINDS. WINDS
WERE ESTIMATED TO HAVE PEAKED BETWEEN 85 AND 95 MPH. THE STRAIGHT
LINE WINDS LAID OUT DEBRIS ACROSS AN AREA APPROXIMATELY 660 YARDS IN
LENGTH AND ABOUT 270 YARDS WIDE. SEVERAL HOMES AND BARNS SUSTAINED
SIGNIFICANT WIND DAMAGE...WITH MULTIPLE TREES BEING FELLED AS WELL.
TWO BARNS...A SMALL SINGLE STRUCTURE AND A FEW TREES ALSO SUSTAINED
DAMAGE FROM STRAIGHT LINE WINDS ON CAMARGO LEVEE ROAD AT ABOUT 655 PM
EDT. THE DEBRIS AREA ON CAMARGO LEVEE ROAD EXTENDED APPROXIMATELY 400
YARDS LONG AND ABOUT 100 YARDS WIDE.
