August 2013 Rainfall - A Story of the Haves & the Have Nots

We still have a few days to go in the month, but an analysis of the rainfall observed through August 29th across the Bluegrass State is really a story of the haves and the have nots.  For instance, here at NWS Jackson, KY we have recorded a whopping 9.18" of rain for the month.  However, only 4 miles away at the Quicksand, KY Mesonet Station, only 4.49" of rain has been observed for the month!  Despite the nearly 6" precipitation surplus for the month at NWS Jackson, the London-Corbin Airport is actually running a deficit of 0.09" of rain for the month with only 3.30" of rainfall observed through 8 am on the 29th.
