The National Weather Service Key West provides Skywarn Storm Spotter Training to recruit volunteer severe weather observers within the Florida Keys. Topics include the structure of the NWS warning program, severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, and waterspouts. Trained Skywarn Storm Spotters will be able to distinguish cloud clues that may portend severe weather, and will learn how to report severe weather directly to their local NWS office through a variety of toll free phone or electronic means. If you would like to attend, please plan for 2 1/2 hours of instruction and question time. For more information, contact Jon Rizzo, Warning Coordination Meteorologist, 305-295-1316 ext. 223. Otherwise, no RSVP is necessary.
