A low pressure system will move northeast through the Ohio Valley today bringing on and off showers and storms to the region. Showers and a few storms forming along a cold front this afternoon will move east through the area. If breaks in the clouds occur, some of these storms could be strong to marginally severe with damaging winds, hail up to the size of quarters, and cloud to ground lightning being the main threats.
Outside of any storms, winds will become breezy this morning. Southerly winds of 10-20 mph with gusts of 20-30 mph will be possible through the afternoon hours ahead of a cold front. Behind the cold front, expect gusty winds to continue from the west. Some gusts may reach 30-40 mph late this afternoon and evening behind the front especially in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky.
