24-Hour Precipitation Map

A map showing the intense rain that the Louisville Metro area experienced is below. Most of this rain fell in two hours. The 7.04 inch value was recorded at McAlpine Lock near the Portland area of the city. The storm was certainly unusual. Almost an inch of rain, was recorded at Louisville International Airport in 10 minutes. This has a 4% chance of happening any one year. Several locations in the city collected 3 inches in an hour. This has a less than 1% chance of happening in a single year. And in the northwest side of the city, over 6 inches fell in two hours which has a less than 0.1% chance of happening in a single year.
