Heightened Fire Danager This Afternoon

A Red Flad Warning is in effect for all of south central Indiana and central Kentucky. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are imminent. A combination of wind, low relative humidity, and dry vegetation will create explosive fire growth potential. Red Flag Warnings are issued by the National Weather Service when fire weather conditions include:

Relative Humidity <= to 25 percent
Fuel Moisture <= to 8 percent
Winds >= to 15 mph

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma is also
forecasting critical fire weather conditions across southern Indiana and Central Kenucky

Due to the dry conditions, burn bans are in effect for numerous counties in southern Indiana and central Kentucky.
