Sunrise at the NWS This Morning

Sunrise at the National Weather Service Office this morning reveiled a beautiful example of three cloud layers. Cirrus, the highest clouds about around 25,000 feet, were lit by the rising sun and showed oranges and reds. Altocumulus, at around 15,000 feet, were lower and not as well lit. Still lower clouds, at around 8500 feet were darker still.
