Widespread Rainfall Expected Overnight

A low pressure system will track from the middle Missouri Valley to the western Great Lakes region by dawn. This will drag a frontal boundary through the area by mid-morning Tuesday. Just ahead of the frontal boundary ample amounts of low and mid level moisture will flow into the region creating the setup for a widespread and beneficial rainfall.  Overall, an inch to around an inch and a half of rainfall is expected with this system, with locally higher amounts possible. An embedded thunderstorm will also be possible through the overnight hours to mid-morning Tuesday. Gusty south winds will accompany the storm system, approaching 20 to 30 mph.
