Heat and humidity will make a return to the area this week, beginning today and lasting through Saturday. This will be courtesy of a strong upper level ridge shown by the H with green circles around it (500mb heights) in the image below. The upper level ridge will strengthen to our west during the early part of the week and then move into the Ohio Valley by the latter portion of the week.
Resulting high temperatures will be in the lower 90s for Tues/Wed with mid 90s for highs Thurs/Fri/Sat. Resulting heat indices for Tues/Wed will likely be above 100 east of I-65 and between 104 to 108 along and west of I-65. Heat indices above 105 will be possible for Thurs/Fri/Sat.
