Dangerous Heat Rest of the Work Week

A strong upper level high pressure system that has been bringing intense heat to the Central Plains the past several days will shift east into the Ohio River Valley Thursday through Saturday.  Surface humidity will remain high.  This humidity will combine with temperatures reaching the mid 90s Thursday and Friday, and back to the lower 90s Saturday to produce dangerous heat indices.  Forecasts for peak Heat Index values are given below:

Please keep in mind the following cautionary guidelines for large heat indices:

90° - 104°F          Heat cramps or heat exhaustion possible.

105° - 130°F        Heat cramps or heat exhaustion likely; heat stroke possible.

>130°F                 Heat stroke highly likely.
