A moderate earthquake occurred in Virginia. Details may be found here...

 

Early Wednesday afternoon at 1:51 PM EDT, a strong earthquake occurred near Mineral, VA.  Mineral, VA is 84 miles southwest of Washington DC and 38 miles northwest of Richmond, Virginia.  The preliminary magnitude was 5.9 on the Richter magnitude scale...but since has been adjusted to a magnitude 5.8.  This quake was felt from as far south as Atlanta, Georgia and north to near Toronto, Ontario Canada.  It was also felt as far west as Chicago, Illinois and was felt locally here in southern Indiana and Kentucky.
