...Another round of potentially heavy rains expected today and tomorrow...

Several very mild wet days are forecast from today through Wednesday morning.  The weather pattern setting up is similar to that which brought a widespread 1 to 3 inches of rain last week.

We have already had quite a bit of rain this year.  The three charts below show rainfall so far through mid-November for Standiford Field in Louisville, Bowling Green, and Lexington.  All three sites have had well above normal rainfall this year.  At Louisville, we are still above the pace set by the rains of our wettest year ever, which is 2004. Standiford Field needs only around 6 more inches of rain through New Year's Eve to exceed our record wet year.  Lexington and especially Bowling Green are much less likely to receive enough rain to set a record.

The chart below shows the current 5 day rainfall accumulations forecast by the Hydrological Prediction Center.  A swath of around 2 inches of additional rainfall is likely over southern Indiana and central Kentucky.
