Near Record Warm March is Forecast

It has been quite hot lately for March, with record or near record high temperatures over the past few days.  Temperatures the last couple of days have been roughly 25 degrees above normal, which for mid March ranges from 57-61 for highs and 35-39 for lows.  The average temperature at our area climate stations through the first 20 days in March has been 57.1 degrees at Louisville, 54.3 degrees at Lexington, and 58.5 degrees at Bowling Green.  These are within the top 3 for the warmest start to March on record for each station.  The current 7 day forecast along with longer range predictions from the Climate Prediction Center (see the 6-10 day and 8-14 day forecast images below) indicate that our area likely will see records broken for record warm March.
