An area of high pressure has built in to the region overnight. This has resulted in clear skies and near calm winds. Temperatures across portions of southeast Indiana and east central Kentucky have fallen into the upper 20s to the lower 30s this morning especially in valley and sheltered locations. With the growing season off to a fast start due to the recent warm spell, the threat of frost and freezing temperatures is especially concerning for agricultural interests in the area.
With temperatures at sub-freezing levels this morning, a FREEZE WARNING is in effect through 9 AM EDT for portions of southeast Indiana and the Bluegrass region of central Kentucky. A FROST ADVISORY is in effect through 9 AM EDT for most of the rest of southern Indiana and portions of central Kentucky. In the FROST ADVISORY area temperatures have cooled into the lower to middle 30s this morning mainly in valley and sheltered locations.
