A strong low pressure system will move into the upper Midwest today. Meanwhile, a strong area of high pressure will stay anchored off the Carolina Coast. This will create a broad area of strong southwesterly flow over the Ohio Valley. Expect southwest winds between 15 and 25 mph gusting to around 35 mph area wide this afternoon and evening. Locations west of I-65 may experience wind gusts up to 40 mph. Use caution if planning to be outdoors this afternoon and evening. Also, use caution if traveling on east-west oriented roadways. Below is a map of the high and low pressure systems that will cause the strong winds across the Ohio Valley today.
