High Based Cumulus Clouds Monday Afternoon

The cumulus clouds in our skies Monday afternoon were typical of those seen in the arid

areas of the High plains and the Desert Southwest.  Our cumulus clouds this afternoon

had bases of around 9000 feet even though cumulus clouds in our part of the country

usually never have bases higher than 6500 feet.
