Air Quality Alert for today, June 8th!

With high pressure over the area this afternoon, air conditions will become quite stagnant due to light winds and subsidence (sinking air).  Pollutants of concern will be ozone levels which are predicted to become unhealthy for sensitive groups as well as fine particulates.  Thus, The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (http://www.louisvilleky.gov/APCD/) and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (http://www.in.gov/idem/) have issued an Air Quality Alert for the Kentuckiana area.  Sensitive Groups include children, older adults, active adults, and anyone with heart and/or lung ailments.

For a specific air quality forecast for your area, go to the AIRNow website and type in your zip code at the top right of the home page.

Help the air on Air Quality Alert days with these simple steps:

  • Avoid idling.
  • Share a ride.
  • Delay your mowing.
  • Combine your errands.
