Rare Sight from Visible Satellite Image Tuesday

A rare, but fascinating sight appeared on the GOES East visible satellite image on Tuesday, December 4th. The moon shows up on the horizon and provided a brief photo opportunity. This opportunity likely did not last long as the GOES satellite moves with the earth's rotation, so that it stays fixed over North America. This is known as geostationary orbit.
