Much colder air will rush portions of the region today in the wake of a strong cold front that cleared the area this morning. Gusty west winds through the day should start to die down this evening, especially across south central Kentucky. The calmer conditions should set the stage for a quick cool down overnight, especially after skies clear out late this evening. Expect temperatures to fall into the low to mid 30s by daybreak Saturday morning, which should allow for at least patchy frost to form. Should skies clear out quicker than forecast, temperatures may drop to below freezing in some spots, with more widespread frost as well. These kind of temperatures can kill cold-sensitive vegetation.
