A strong ridge of high pressure aloft will maintain its dominance over the Ohio Valley for the rest of this week, bringing hot humid weather with it. Through Friday, high temperatures should reach the lower to mid 90s each afternoon. However, the humidity will make it feel around 100 degrees or so in the afternoon.
Anyone planning prolonged outdoor activities or work during the heat of the day should take appropriate precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. Drink plenty of water and try to take breaks out of the sun if possible.
Isolated thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon late this week, but many areas will remain dry. The best chance of rain will be Saturday when an approaching cold front brings scattered thunderstorms along with a little cooler weather.
