Although only scattered thunderstorms developed earlier Wednesday afternoon, some did produce large hail and localized flooding. The images below show two such storms. The first image shows radar estimated rainfall that fell within a 2 hour window across northern Lincoln and Garrard Counties. According to the radar, up to 4 to 5 inches fell across a small area. Quite a bit of temporary street flooding was reported in Lancaster, located in Garrard County.
A storm that briefly became a supercell brought at least ping pong-sized hail to southwestern Shelby County. This image below shows the radar imagery of the supercellular storm.
This rather impressive storm dropped hail up to the size of golf balls, along with some damage near Simpsonville. Below are some images of the damage and hail.
