Bands of moderate to heavy snow moved through portions of southern Indiana and north central Kentucky this morning. Although each individual band of snow did not last long, they were quick to put down light accumulations. Thunder was even reported with some of the heaviest snow showers! As of 10 AM EST, 1.8 inches of snow was measured at the Louisville National Weather Service Office. Elsewhere, as much as 2 inches was measured in localized spots. The black arrow points to a single lightning strike that was detected in Woodford County just before 7 AM EST this morning. Additional lightning strikes were reported in Anderson, Scott, and Harrison counties with this cell. Even small hail was reported due to the convective nature of the snow shower.
