August 1st is Social Media Appreciation Day

As a thanks to you, our fans, for helping us at NWS Chicago reach more people with vital hazardous weather information, and weather safety and preparedness information, Friday August 1st, will be Fan and Follower Appreciation Day. Each item given away will further the National Weather Service mission of protecting life and property, and support the national Weather Ready Nation initiative.

Date: Friday, August 1st, 2014
Times of Posts/Tweets (CDT): Five Facebook posts/Tweets at 6 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM, 4 PM & 5 PM
Social Media Platforms: NWS Chicago’s Facebook and Twitter pages
Who Can Win: Anyone who “likes” (Facebook) or Retweets (Twitter) the five Social Media posts/Tweets created that day.
How Will You Win: A random winner will be chosen from those “likes” or Retweets from each of the five posts/Tweets from that day. The cut-off time for "liking" or retweeting any of the posts or tweets made is 7 PM CDT.
What Can You Win: Five separate posts/Tweets will be created providing the opportunity to win one of three NOAA Weather Radios, and two assortments of NWS Chicago items and safety/preparedness information.
When Will NWS Chicago Announce The Winners: The five winners will be chosen and announced Friday, August 1st, 2014 by 8:30 PM CDT.
How Will NWS Chicago Notify The Winners: The winners will be sent a private message notifying them they have won.
How Will You Receive Your Item(s): NWS Chicago will mail them to you.
