CHICAGO OFFICIALLY RECORDED 6.61 INCHES OF RAIN THROUGH 7 PM AT
OHARE AIRPORT.

THIS BREAKS THE ALL TIME RECORD FOR SINGLE DAY PRECIPITATION IN
CHICAGO. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 6.49 INCHES...SET ON AUGUST 14TH
1987. CLIMATE RECORDS FOR CHICAGO DATE BACK TO 1871.

WITH RAIN CONTINUING THROUGH THE EVENING...ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL
RESULT IN A HIGHER NEW RECORD TOTAL BY THE END OF THE DAY. A NEW
