...FIRST MEASURABLE SNOWFALL FOR CHICAGO...

NOVEMBER 16TH REPRESENTS THE CLIMATOLOGICAL NORMAL...BASED ON
RECORDS FROM 1971 TO 2000...FOR THE FIRST MEASURABLE SNOWFALL OF THE
YEAR. AND TODAY...NOVEMBER 16TH 2008...CHICAGO OHARE MEASURED 0.1
INCHES OF SNOW AS OF 8PM THIS EVENING.  THERE HAVE BEEN FOUR OTHER
INSTANCES WHERE THE FIRST MEASURABLE SNOW FELL ON NOVEMBER 16TH.
THEY WERE 1888...1915...1949...AND 2005...ALTHOUGH IT SHOULD BE
NOTED THAT THE DATE OF THE NORMAL FIRST SNOW MAY FLUCTUATE BASED ON
THE 30 YEAR DATA SET THAT THE NORMALS ARE BASED ON.

ROCKFORD ONLY REGISTERED A TRACE OF SNOWFALL AND HAS YET TO HAVE A
MEASURABLE SNOWFALL THIS SEASON.  THEIR NORMAL FIRST MEASURABLE SNOW
IS ON NOVEMBER 20TH.
