A Wet Start to 2009

Since the beginning of 2009, precipitation amounts in Chicago have been well above normal!

Just check out some of the figures below!

As you can see, 2009 is ranked second in amount of precipitation fallen from January through May 8th!

Currently Chicago is at 15.83 inches of precipitation; the average at this time of year is 10.32 inches!

Below are the January through May observed precipitation and percent of normal precipitation. The left image explains how much precipitation has fallen thus far, while the right image explains how far off that month is from normal. It appears that January and May have been the only months to be below normal with precipitation, while February and March are around 150% - 200% above normal!
