...A LOOK BACK AT THE CLIMATE FOR THE MONTH OF JULY 2009 FOR
CHICAGO AND ROCKFORD...

AT CHICAGO...THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 78.4 DEGREES WHICH IS
5.1 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 60.4
DEGREES WHICH IS 2.8 DEGREE BELOW NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
FOR THE MONTH WAS 69.4 DEGREES WHICH IS 3.9 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.
1.53 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED WHICH IS 1.98 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL.

NO RECORDS WERE TIED OR SET DURING THE MONTH OF JULY 2009 AT
CHICAGO. HOWEVER...JULY 2009 WILL GO DOWN AS THE 7TH COLDEST JULY ON
RECORD. TEMPERATURE RECORDS FOR CHICAGO DATE BACK TO 1872.

AT ROCKFORD...THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 77.0 DEGREES WHICH
IS 6.4 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 57.0
DEGREES WHICH IS 5.6 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
FOR THE MONTH WAS 67.0 DEGREES WHICH IS 5.9 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.
2.60 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED WHICH IS 1.50 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL.

JULY 2009 WILL GO DOWN ON RECORD AS THE COLDEST JULY ON RECORD WITH
THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 67.0 DEGREES.  THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS
69.0 DEGREES SET BACK IN 1915. TEMPERATURE RECORDS DATE BACK TO 1906.

THREE DAILY TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE ALSO BROKEN DURING THE MONTH OF
JULY AT ROCKFORD.  ON JULY 1ST...THE RECORD FOR COLDEST MAXIMUM
TEMPERATURE WAS BROKEN.  THE HIGH TEMPERATURE THAT DAY WAS 65...AND
THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 66 SET BACK IN 1986. ON JULY 8TH...THE
RECORD FOR COLDEST MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE WAS BROKEN.  THE HIGH
TEMPERATURE THAT DAY WAS 64...AND THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 67 SET
BACK IN 1915. ON JULY 17TH...THE RECORD FOR COLDEST MAXIMUM
TEMPERATURE WAS BROKEN.  THE HIGH TEMPERATURE THAT DAY WAS 67...AND
THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 68 SET BACK IN 1917.
