Skywarn Recognition Day at the Chicago Forecast Office

 

Skywarn Recognition Day will be December 5, 2009. There will be a few changes in the operations. The operating hours will be 6 PM to midnight Friday December 4, 2009 and 8 AM to 6 PM Saturday December 5, 2009. Because of a possible flu pandemic, we will severely limit the amount of people visiting the office this year. We will have to reduce  the number of radios and limit the amateur radio operators to just operating the radios and logging contacts. There will be shifts that you can sign up for. These shifts will be the following ;
 6 PM to 8 PM Friday                  
 8 PM to 10 PM Friday
 10 PM to midnight Friday
8 AM to 10 AM Saturday
10 AM to 12 noon Saturday
Noon to 2 PM Saturday
2 PM to 4 PM Saturday
4 PM to 6 PM Saturday
For each shift, we will need six amateur radio operators Friday night and eight amateur radio operators Saturday. You may sign up for each shift by calling the office phone number 815-834-0600 extension 611. Please leave your name, call sign and a phone number. We will schedule you for a shift  and let you know.
 We will operate in the 20 meter and 40 meter bands Friday and Saturday and will include the 2 meter band on Saturday.
