February Monthly Snowfall Rankings for Chicago and Rockford (Updated Feb 28 6:00 AM)

A total of 29.0 inches of snowfall has been observed thus far in February 2011 at O'Hare International Airport, as of 6am Monday. This is the snowiest February on record for Chicago.  Four of the top ten snowiest Februaries in Chicago have occurred since 2007. In fact, February 2011 is also currently 8th overall for the most snow in any month in Chicago. The snowfall total for today will be unofficial until the climate report is done at midnight. Likewise, the final official total for February will of course not be known until midnight on the 28th.

A total of 20.2 inches of snowfall has been observed thus far in February 2011 at Chicago-Rockford International Airport as of 6am Monday.  This makes it the fifth snowiest February on record for Rockford. The snowiest February on record at Rockford occurred in 1994, when 30.2 inches of snowfall were observed.  Rockford's current seasonal total of 51.2" marks four consecutive seasonal snowfalls of 50" or greater for the first time on record.
