...A LOOK BACK AT THE CLIMATE FOR THE MONTH OF JULY 2012 FOR
CHICAGO AND ROCKFORD...

AT CHICAGO...THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 91.5 DEGREES WHICH IS
7.4 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 70.6
DEGREES WHICH IS 6.7 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
FOR THE MONTH WAS 81.1 DEGREES WHICH IS 7.1 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.
THIS MAKES JULY 2012 THE THIRD WARMEST ON RECORD SINCE 1871.
3.66 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED WHICH IS 0.04 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL.

THERE WERE 5 RECORDS SET AT CHICAGO FOR THE MONTH OF JULY. THE FIRST
RECORD WAS ON JULY 4TH WHEN THE TEMPERATURE REACHED 102 DEGREES
WHICH TIED THE RECORD OF 102 DEGREES SET IN 1911. THIS ALSO TIED IT
FOR THE WARMEST JULY 4TH ON RECORD. THE SECOND RECORD WAS ON JULY
5TH WHEN THE TEMPERATURE REACHED 103 DEGREES WHICH BROKE THE OLD
RECORD OF 102 DEGREES SET IN 1911. THE THIRD RECORD WAS BROKEN ON
JULY 6TH WHEN THE HIGH TEMPERATURE REACHED 103 DEGREES WHICH BROKE THE OLD
RECORD OF 99 SET BACK IN 1988 AND 1874. THE FOURTH RECORD WAS ALSO
SET ON JULY 6TH WHEN THE HIGHEST MINIMUM TEMPERATURE WAS BROKEN
BY ONLY FALLING TO 82 DEGREES WHICH BROKE THE OLD RECORD OF 80

DEGREES WHICH IS 5.8 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
FOR THE MONTH WAS 80.8 DEGREES WHICH IS 7.0 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.
THIS MAKES JULY 2012 THE WARMEST JULY ON RECORD SINCE 1905. 2.68
INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED WHICH IS 1.27 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL.

THERE WERE 9 RECORDS SET AT ROCKFORD DURING THE MONTH OF JULY. THE
FIRST WAS THAT JULY 2012 IS THE WARMEST JULY ON RECORD WITH AN
AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 80.8 DEGREES. THE PREVIOUS WARMEST JULY WAS
80.3 DEGREES SET IN 1921. THE SECOND RECORD WAS ON JULY 3RD WHEN THE
MINIMUM TEMPERATURE ONLY DROPPED TO 75 DEGREES. THE PREVIOUS RECORD
HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE FOR JULY 3RD HAD BEEN 74 SET IN 1911. THE

102 DEGREES. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 100 DEGREES SET IN 1911. THE
FIFTH RECORD WAS ON JULY 6TH WHEN THE HIGH TEMPERATURE CLIMBED TO
104 DEGREES. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 102 SET BACK IN 1936 AND 1911.
THE SIXTH RECORD WAS ALSO BROKEN ON JULY 6TH WHEN THE LOW
TEMPERATURE ONLY DROPPED TO 77 DEGREES. THIS BROKE THE PREVIOUS
RECORD FOR HIGHEST MINIMUM TEMPERATURE WHICH WAS 73 DEGREES SET IN
1948. THE SEVENTH RECORD SET WAS ON JULY 7TH WHEN THE HIGH
TEMPERATURE REACHED 105 DEGREES.  THIS TIED THE PREVIOUS RECORD
WHICH WAS SET IN 1936. THE EIGHTH RECORD WAS SET ON JULY 18TH WHEN
THE HIGH TEMPERATURE REACHED 99 DEGREES. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 98
DEGREES SET BACK IN 1966...1935 AND 1930. THE NINTH RECORD SET WAS
ON JULY 23RD WHEN THE LOW TEMPERATURE ONLY DROPPED TO 76 DEGREES.
