Low Temperatures Observed This Morning

    Autumn weather came with authority on Saturday behind a strong cold front.  The cool weather persisted through the weekend, with the coolest temperatures observed this morning, accompanied by a frost in many places.  Earlier today, Rockford dropped to 31° and Chicago O'Hare to 37°. 

  • This was the first September freeze in Rockford since September 29, 2003.
  • This was the earliest freeze in Rockford in 17 years, since September 22, 1995.
  • The low of 37° at Chicago was the earliest 37° or lower since September 22, 1995.
