National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office

The Chicago National Weather Service Forecast Office Marine Program includes:

1)  Forecasts and warnings for all of Lake Michigan beyond 5 miles from shore.

2)  Nearshore forecasts within 5 miles of the Illinois and Indiana shores.

3)  Special Marine Warnings for strong thunderstorms over the southwest end of Lake Michigan.

Now, through enhancements to our marine forecast products, new information will be added to our routine open water and nearshore forecast products to provide more descriptive information to our marine user community.
