...A LOOK BACK AT THE CLIMATE FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER 2012 FOR
CHICAGO AND ROCKFORD...

AT CHICAGO...THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 60.5 DEGREES WHICH IS
1.8 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 42.4
DEGREES WHICH IS 0.4 DEGREE BELOW NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
FOR THE MONTH WAS 51.5 DEGREES WHICH IS 1.0 DEGREE BELOW NORMAL.
3.15 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED WHICH IS NORMAL. NO SNOW
WAS RECORDED WHICH IS 0.3 INCH BELOW NORMAL.

NO RECORDS WERE SET OR TIED AT CHICAGO FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER.

AT ROCKFORD...THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 61.1 DEGREES WHICH
IS 1.6 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 39.8
DEGREES WHICH IS 0.9 DEGREE BELOW NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
FOR THE MONTH WAS 50.5 DEGREES WHICH IS 1.2 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.
2.42 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED WHICH IS 0.25 INCH BELOW
NORMAL. NO SNOW WAS RECORDED WHICH IS 0.1 INCH BELOW NORMAL.

Another Month Cooler Than Normal...

   While it ended up not being that far below normal, October was the second consecutive month at Chicago cooler than normal.  The last time there were two consecutive months with cooler than normal temperatures was April & May of 2011.  Similarly for Rockford, this month finished slightly below normal, which is the third consecutive month cooler than normal for the city.  This is the first three consecutive month stretch of cooler than normal monthly temperatures since December 2009-February 2010.
