...A LOOK BACK AT THE CLIMATE FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY 2013 FOR
CHICAGO AND ROCKFORD...

AT CHICAGO...THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 35.3 DEGREES WHICH IS
4.3 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 17.9
DEGREES WHICH IS 1.4 DEGREE ABOVE NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
FOR THE MONTH WAS 26.6 DEGREES WHICH IS 2.8 DEGREE ABOVE NORMAL.
3.63 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED WHICH IS 1.90 INCHES ABOVE
NORMAL. 2.6 INCHES OF SNOW WAS RECORDED WHICH IS 8.2 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL.

FOUR RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF JANUARY 2013. A RECORD
HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 42 DEGREES WAS SET ON THE 11TH. THIS
BROKE THE OLD RECORD OF 40 DEGREES SET BACK IN 1890. A RECORD HIGH
TEMPERATURE OF 63 DEGREES WAS SET ON JANUARY 29TH. THIS BROKE THE
OLD RECORD OF 59 SET IN 1914. A RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF
39 DEGREES WAS SET ON JANUARY 29TH. THIS BROKE THE OLD RECORD OF 38
DEGREES SET IN 1924. A RECORD DAILY RAINFALL OF 1.33 INCHES WAS SET
ON JANUARY 29TH. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 0.92 INCHES
SET IN 1947.


AT ROCKFORD...THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 33.6 DEGREES WHICH
IS 4.1 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 15.0
DEGREES WHICH IS 1.5 DEGREE ABOVE NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
FOR THE MONTH WAS 24.3 DEGREES WHICH IS 2.8 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.
3.09 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED WHICH IS 1.72 INCH ABOVE
NORMAL. 2.7 INCHES OF SNOW WAS RECORDED WHICH IS 7.5 INCHES BELOW
NORMAL.

THREE RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH OF JANUARY 2013. A RECORD
HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 40 DEGREES WAS SET ON THE 11TH. THIS
BROKE THE OLD RECORD OF 34 DEGREES SET BACK IN 1928. A RECORD HIGH
TEMPERATURE OF 62 DEGREES WAS SET ON JANUARY 29TH. THIS BROKE THE
OLD RECORD OF 55 SET IN 1914. A RECORD HIGH MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF
38 DEGREES WAS SET ON JANUARY 29TH. THIS BROKE THE OLD RECORD OF 35
DEGREES SET IN 1989.
