THE WAVE TRAIN OF CLIPPER WEATHER SYSTEMS...OR QUICK MOVING LOW
PRESSURES FROM THE NORTHWEST...HAS PROVIDED MAINLY SMALL BUT
SUDDENLY FREQUENT SNOWFALLS TO NORTHERN ILLINOIS. HERE ARE SOME
STATISTICS REGARDING THIS RECENT SNOWFALL...

CHICAGO...

- THE SNOW EVENT SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING PRODUCED 2.7
INCHES OF SNOW...MAKING IT THE LARGEST SNOW EVENT OF THE SEASON.

- MONDAY MARKED THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE DAY WITH MEASURABLE
SNOWFALL. THIS IS THE LONGEST STRETCH OF DAYS WITH 0.1 INCH OR
GREATER OF SNOWFALL SINCE JAN 6TH-14TH 2009 /NINE STRAIGHT DAYS/.
A FIFTH CONSECUTIVE DAY OF MEASURABLE SNOW IS FAVORED TUESDAY.
THIS SHOWS ACTUALLY HOW RARE IT IS TO GET SUCCESSIVE DAYS OF FOUR
OR MORE WITH SNOWFALL AND ALMOST ALWAYS HAS TO BE AN ACTIVE
NORTHWEST FLOW PATTERN IN PLACE.

- THE SNOW EVENT FROM SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING PRODUCED
3.5 INCHES OF SNOW...MAKING IT THE LARGEST SNOW EVENT OF THE
SEASON.

- MONDAY MARKED THE FOURTH CONSECUTIVE DAY WITH MEASURABLE
SNOWFALL. THIS IS THE LONGEST STRETCH OF DAYS WITH 0.1 INCH OR
GREATER OF SNOWFALL SINCE FEBRUARY 25-28 2011. A FIFTH CONSECUTIVE
DAY OF MEASURABLE SNOWFALL IS POSSIBLE TUESDAY WHICH IF IT
