...A LOOK BACK AT THE CLIMATE FOR THE MONTH OF MAY 2013 FOR
CHICAGO AND ROCKFORD...

AT CHICAGO...THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 71.2 DEGREES WHICH IS
1.2 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL. THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 50.7
DEGREES WHICH IS 2.4 DEGREE ABOVE NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
FOR THE MONTH WAS 61.0 DEGREES WHICH IS 1.9 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.
4.96 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED WHICH IS 1.28 INCHES ABOVE
NORMAL. NO SNOW WAS RECORDED...WITH JUST A TRACE AS NORMAL.

NO RECORDS WERE SET OR TIED AT CHICAGO FOR THE MONTH OF MAY.

AT ROCKFORD...THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 73.0 DEGREES WHICH
IS 1.2 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 51.1
DEGREES WHICH IS 2.7 DEGREE ABOVE NORMAL.  THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
FOR THE MONTH WAS 62.0 DEGREES WHICH IS 1.9 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL.
3.14 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED WHICH IS 0.88 OF AN INCH
BELOW NORMAL. NO SNOW WAS RECORDED...WITH JUST A TRACE AS NORMAL.

ONE RECORD WAS TIED IN THE MONTH OF MAY AT ROCKFORD WHEN THE HIGH
TEMPERATURE ON MAY 14 REACHED 92 DEGREES. THIS TIED THE RECORD
FOR THE DATE SET IN 2007. THE 59 DEGREES WARM UP FROM THE LOW OF 33
DEGREES ON THE MORNING OF MAY 13 TO THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 92
DEGREES IN THE AFTERNOON OF MAY 14 IS THE LARGEST EVER ONE DAY WARM
UP IN MAY AND TIED FOR THE SECOND LARGEST EVER ONE DAY WARM UP IN
ANY MONTH IN ROCKFORD.

ROCKFORD...

AT CHICAGO...THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE FOR THE SEASON WAS 55.7
DEGREES WHICH IS 2.8 DEGREES BELOW THE 1981 TO 2010 NORMAL. THE
AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 37.9 DEGREES WHICH IS 0.9 DEGREES BELOW
THE 1981 TO 2010 NORMAL.  OVERALL...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE
FOR THE SEASON WAS 46.8 DEGREES WHICH IS 1.8 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.

A TOTAL OF 15.64 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED DURING THIS
PAST SPRING...WHICH IS 6.08 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. THIS RANKS AS
BEING THE THIRD WETTEST SPRING ON RECORD IN CHICAGO DATING BACK TO
1871. THE MONTH OF APRIL 2013 WAS THE WETTEST APRIL ON RECORD WITH A
TOTAL 8.68 INCHES. THERE WAS ALSO A TOTAL OF 10.5 INCHES OF
SNOW RECORDED THIS SPRING.

AT ROCKFORD...THE AVERAGE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 55.6 DEGREES WHICH IS
4.2 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL. THE AVERAGE LOW TEMPERATURE WAS 36.6
DEGREES WHICH IS 1.4 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL.  OVERALL...THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE FOR THE SEASON WAS 46.1 DEGREES WHICH IS 2.8 DEGREES
BELOW NORMAL.

A TOTAL OF 13.37 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS RECORDED DURING THIS
PAST SPRING...WHICH WAS 3.68 INCHES ABOVE NORMAL. IN ADDITION...A
TOTAL OF 13.9 INCHES OF SNOW WAS REPORTED.
