AN EARLY SEASON BLAST OF UNSEASONABLY COLD AIR THIS WEEK PROVIDED
THE REGION WITH AN EARLY TASTE OF WINTER THAT CULMINATED WITH A
RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE BEING TIED AT ROCKFORD THIS MORNING. IN
FACT...THE 3 DAY PERIOD FROM OCT 22ND THROUGH OCT 24TH WAS THE
COLDEST THE REGION HAS SEEN THIS EARLY IN THE SEASON IN OVER 20
YEARS. THE 3 DAY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR CHICAGO WAS 37.3F WHILE
THE AVERAGE IN ROCKFORD WAS 34.8 DEGREES...WHICH IS ROUGHLY 1215
DEGREES BELOW AVERAGE. THE LAST TIME THE REGION SAW A 3 DAY COLD
SNAP THIS IMPRESSIVE THIS EARLY IN THE YEAR WAS BACK ON OCT 17-19,
1992.
