Skywarn Recognition Day 2012 will be held 12/1/2012, from 00Z - 24Z. In Central Standard Time, that is Friday, 11/30/12, 6:00 pm until Saturday, 12/1/2012, 6:00 pm. This event celebrates the contributions made by volunteer Skywarn Amateur Radio Operators to the National Weather Service (NWS) during severe weather. During the event amateur radio operators will operate from NWS offices across the Country to make contact with othe NWS offices and amateur operators across the World.

At the NWS St. Louis, MO, office, amateur operators will set up radio equipment in the office to join in the fun. They plan to operate on the following bands: 80 meters, 40 meters, 20 meters, 15 meters, 10 meters, 6 meters, and 2 meters.

Modes that will be operated on include: SSB, CW, FM, and IRLP (node 3453). Amateur radio operators from across the area are encouraged to join in and contact the NWS office during the event.
