Beach Hazards Awareness Week June 1 - 7: Day 3

This is National Beach Hazards Awareness Week (June 1st to June 7th).  Each day the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan will post a topic that will help you make safe decisions on the beach this summer. 

"Know Before You Go" to the Beach or Into the Water

Today's topics are swimming dangers and safety tips at beaches on Lake Michigan.

Be especially cautious at the beach when waves are high, especially when they are 3 feet or higher.

Try to avoid swimming at the beach when waves are high and where dangerous currents may form:

Also, never swim alone and if possible, swim near a lifeguard.
