January 31 - February 1 Winter Storm Summary and Map

A powerful winter storm tracked from the mid Mississippi Valley, through central Indiana, into northern Ohio between the afternoon of January 31th and the morning of February 1st.  Widespread moderate, to at times heavy snow, developed on the northwest side of the system, affecting much of southeast and portions of south central Wisconsin.

Storm total accumulations ranged from 1 to 3 inches over much of south central Wisconsin, to 3 to 8 inches over southeast Wisconsin.  Lake enhancement during the early morning hours of February 1st produced very heavy snow along the lakeshore of Racine and Kenosha counties.  The highest storm total of 12.0 inches was reported at the Racine-Lakeshore-WWTP in far southeast Racine county.

Below is a map of snowfall up to around 7 am Friday, February 1st.  Some areas may have had another few tenths of an inch of snow between this time and Noon as a final light snow band pushed through.
